Mye's entry inspired me to do the same for LO. I did see a lot of this kinda vocab update on other mommies' blog. Although most of the time i do tend to be the non-conformist type but mommy instinct tells me I should tell the world especially after she noticed Afya actually uses some of her words in hit and bullseye context.
So I prepared her lunch which consisted of nasi beriyani, peas, sheesh kebab, fish and chicken tikka (LOL take away of course!!). She was done with rice and the fish is a bit too spicy for her so I gave her this cube of turkish baklava (the chewy one with pistachios) that mom brought back. so she gobbled them up. Then she ate some more rice and fish.. and guzzled down some water kepedasan. Then she said NAK! and pointed to the baclava container. I in turn asked her 'u want this?' and pointed at the container.. with some effort she actually nodded! I am so amused.. this is the first time that indicates her wants without screamiing and crying.
She has really made my day... I'm almost starting to feel sorry that I had to take her for her jab tonight :P
I think OH's photography skills has really improved...
There's an old saying 'anak dara tak elok dok kat tangga/depan pintu nanti something something (cannot remember)...'
It doesn't apply to me anymore.. so I'm free to pose at tangga.. ot at the pintu.. and block everyone's way... hahahaha.. oh but wait.. the rule still applies to the budak kecik...
My on and off effort on teaching Afya signing pays off...
However, she picks up on the not so useful words rather that words that would really help understanding her needs like milk, mommy, daddy, poopy.. etc...
Instead she signs for flower, ball, and probably some other words that I dun really notice... or that she's doing it very baby-ishly and i can't recognise
I've been teaching the sign for milk quite religiously however it doesn't really help when milk in baby einstein is portrayed as bottled ones when she's getting only direct boob milk.
But lately she's been saying something which sounds like tsuh tsuh x million times when she cries for milk
Here's a video of her signing for flower. This is what she do whenever she sees a flower.
I love it when Afya kisses me.. coz it's usually unexpected. I'd be... "Afya, give mommy a kiss!!!" and she'd usually be like.. na na na dat ah dah.. and ignore me. So when she actually come close and say muuuuaaaaaahhh.. (more like buaaaaaahh) on my cheeks.. it's like winning a lottery. However, there are also times when dunno angin apa ntah when she'll be extra affectionate shower me with kisses and she'd put my face between her hands (soap opera style) and insist to kiss my mouth with her mouth wide open. She'd be like aaaaaaaaa then I'd be turning my head side ways and still she'll try to kiss my mouth and I'd be like.. noooooooooooooooo... and pleghhh yugh phuhhh.. when finally my mouth is covered in her spit. That's what u get when u kiss her on the mouth. She's just returning the favour plus some natural lip moisturiser.
blegh...
this video was taken during iftar the day we kemaruk kopitiam. So went break our fast at old town. The one that did not fast seemed so happy to be at a familiar place...
this song was a part of the songlist for the acoustic gig at bijou bazaar last weekend.
which I sometimes sing to Afya when she's brushing her teeth in the morning.
"bangun pagi, gosok gigi, cuci muka... sumthin sumthing (can't recall the words)"
I haven't really brush her teeth when they started budding out. then when she started standing on her own at about 8m.o. I would brush her teeth as long as she let me and I'll leave the brush with her while we brush our teeth, to chew or do whatever she desired which usually consisted of throwing it in her toy chest or losing it. When the toothbrush disappears, we will forgot to brush her teeth. When it appears again, we brush her teeth. Sometimes with paste, sometimes without. This continued until last month when I noticed she has another 6 budding teeth. (to date that's 18 teeth!) I have to start actively brush her teeth. This time around I start with brushing regularly especially since she's taking yoghurt and other sugar containing yet healthy food which are totally unavoidable. So one day I used the stool that I had been using to bath her in her tub (I started giving showers instead of baths a month ago.. macam ketinggalan pulak.. hehehe) and let her stand on it while I brush her teeth. Alhamdulillah, she seemed to enjoy the routine now. I'm actually kinda impressed that she's willing to let me brush her teeth and that she can stand there for good 5 minutes and try to brush her own teeth. The LO's growing up!
Although this is as much Afya's blog as is mine, I usually become lost when I wanna write things about her especially when there's so much to tell. I dun even know where to start. I'll do it next time...
This photo I took has become my most favourite. I dun usually put faces of us on the pc's wallpaper however this picture is an exception. The clarity of her eyes I see everytime I got on the pc is somewhat soothing, relaxing and gives my heart that tingly high feeling that can easily be mistaken as love or crush. Maybe I took too much pills for my mere eye infection. Maybe it just IS love or crush.
This is of late how she likes to put on hairband. you can see that this is the exact same one as the one we tried on her last month so yes.. we didn't get her anymore head accessories until she is willing to put them on properly. We have given up on trying to train her to accept any head gears for that matters. hijab, hairbands, hairclips, hats, bandana... unless necessary, we won't put anything on her head. When it's really hot then we might consider using the hat, but on 2 occasions already OH has to run across a busy street to rescue a fallen hat.
And then there's that red carpet wannabe style of wearing her pyjamas...
Whenever we found her wearing it like this, we just dun bother correcting it anymore. let her be... it's one of the self-expression thingie maybe..?
Life with toddler.. it's fun beyond imaginable.
After stuffing ourselves with raya goodies on day one, the chinese lunch was greatlyx1000 appreciated. Wantan, mushroom, chicken, sawi. best giler!
Btw, LO's not so much into baby einstein anymore. We let her watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. She loves doing the hot dawgg dance.
by far... the most tremendous and finally, no one gave me duit raya. So... I finally look mature I guess LOL
LO's wearing her first baju kurung ever. I absolutely adore her in it. As in... used up a few gigs of compact flash with just her pictures in it. (dun worry, won't post all of 'em).. as in... I want to make her 10 pasang for raya next year! jk of course.
nothing extravagant.. it's tremendous simply because... we're happy
that's all that matters
... even happier today coz I got my laptop back. All in working condition.. it's about time... gonna update my vox with lotsa stuff cerita basi this week..
