This time we stayed at Holiday Inn Resort, Batu Feringghi. OH wanted to collect points he said.. I have no idea what it's all about. something like loyalty card i suppose. Anyways... had no qualms with the place. No bad experience whatsoever. However can't review much coz most of the time we just stayed in our room and didn't exactly make full use of the facilities. Room was spacious with 2 double beds, a verandah. Has both shower and a bathtub. Somehow I feel like the loo was designed for orang utan.. can u see the distance between the loo and the toilet roll? LOL
The second time we came to melaka as a married couple.. Afya's first of course. Also the second time we dine in Bibik Neo. I'm not really in the mood to write much suffice to say IMHO Bibik Neo is THE place to go for authentic Baba Nyonya cuisine. Location: somewhere in melaka raya i suppose. Terry will correct me if i got this wrong.

I have blacklisted Umbai. The last time I was here, I absolutely hated the cooking.. ikan tak masak and tak sedap mana pun and mahal.. totally unworth it. This time, it was simply filthy. Afya's leg was already covered with some old sambal from her baby chair even before we ordered anything *almost puked*. I was really pissed. I am never going here ever again. Unless if I have to I guess.. kalau ada party ke.. or if OH insisted ke... but I would willingly do my own grilling 10X before setting foot in umbai again. *cringe*
as in.. afya would have sung this to me if she can already do so
Usually when a blogger put up a photo like this, they'd put together a poem or some other form of inspirational thoughts. Maybe I should put something too instead of just letting it hang there.
I'm sure if she can understand the lyrics she'd agree
I'm sticking with you
velvet underground
juno ost
I'm sticking with you
'cos I'm made out of glue
Anything that you might do
I'm gonna do too
You held up a stage coach in the rain
And I'm doing the same
So you're hanging from a tree
And I made believe it was me
I'm sticking with you
'cos I'm made out of glue
Anything that you might do
I'm gonna do too
People going to the stratosphere
Soldiers fighting with the cong?
But with you by my side I can do anything
When we swing
We hang past right or wrong
I'll do anything for you
Anything you want me too
I'll do anything for you
Oohoh I'm sticking with you
Oohoh I'm sticking with you
Oohoh I'm sticking with you
Arrived after first having a nice of Extra Hot Peri2 at Nandos in Juru. Check in was swift and we straight hit the sack.
The next morning after breakfast (great spread) I took Afya to play while OH went off for his seminar in BayView. Then took shuttle to Gurney Plaza and shop! OH joined us for lunch at the Loft. Then Afya n I cont. shopping. Canon was having some sort of a seminar and a fair so there were sooo many photographers around. Mostly I noticed were carrying nikon. I got to try out the 350D and luckily it didn't feel right for me. I used to have slight regret that I have chosed a100 instead of a canon dslr coz I have always been a canon b/8tch. So I have made the right choice it seems.
That saturday I walked non-stop for almost 7hrs straight. Mau patah kaki sudah and Afya already drifted to slumberland at half past 7, we cancelled our plans to dine in chilis (for mother's day la konon) so we had room service instead. Mother's day present to myself - an aromatic soak in the tub with the adventure of brin n jael ohmsford in hand.

Third day in Cherating. Visited the Penyu Sanctuary which located beside Club Med. There were about 10 turtles there under their wing and we were lucky enough to see 3 day old turtlings (i don't think that's what baby turtles are called.. dun quote me) We were also invited to see their release that night. Terry offered to babysit Afya and let me go and witness it but i had a MAJOR headache and it looked like there'll be another freak storm.. so we didn't go. This, the next morning became my greatest regret ever.. the weather had been fine.. *sigh* at least we had a very good night rest for the long drive home.
Anyhoooo... we drove by pantai cherating. A cute little village that reminds me a lot of pangkor. Many chalets, trinkets stalls... wooden huts. Stopped by for some refreshing local air kelapa and keropok lekor. We tried to look for a seafood place called 'Can't Forget Seafood Restaurant' or 'Susah nak Dilupakan' in Malay but our car got stuck in the sand instead 3 minutes after I reminded my DH that we're not driving the 4x4. An amazing very sincere local helped us pushed the car... kembali ke jalan sebenar LOL aaand we ditched our seafood restaurant hunt.. and went back to hotel for lunch and rest.
When the sun is tamer... 4pm by my watch, it's dipping and playing with sand again plus this time we flew a kite. This kite was bought by OH specially for me when I was pregnant with Afya.. coz believe it or not.. I wanted to fly a kite that time but we never had the time nor opportunity to do so hence a kite in the boot of the car wherever we go. Kite flying was really anti-climax. The tail is broken so we thought it's going to be challenging. but as we let it loose, it's already flying smoothly and all we needed to do is give it some lax and it'll fly higher. So we let it fly as high as possible... buried the thread holder and do other things.. when we've had enough of the beach and afya looked tired, want to call it a day... hey the kite is still up there.
Back from Cameron trip.. Min, Iz and belly joined us last minute and it's good to have them around.
Look, it's the lady who stayed up late in Cherating
Made a bee line to the hotel breakfast. Thank God ada unsalted rice porridge. Other food in the menu.. so-so. One thing for sure.. the food doesn't suck. So far in our experience.. G Hotel has the best breakfast buffet and the worse is... umm... boulevard.. ugh
Then took a walk around the resort and let Afya have the first taste of what it's like playing in the sand. In her dress!
Since it's too hot to do anything outdoors.. and staying indoors is totally unacceptable, we drove to kemaman first to have an early lunch at the very very (maybe also ridiculously) famous kopitiam called Hai Peng Kopitiam. The place was kinda crowded but we didn't have problems getting a table. We were told that the roti bakar is the specialty. Well... I can see why it's different. It's kinda chewy and crunchy... a bit like Focacia but much lighter. Pleasant I guess. Can I describe food as pleasant? The rest are good.. Hai Peng coffee... gud, but had better..
Then drove to Kuala Kemaman and bought keropok ikang for everyone back home. Had some boiled keropok lekor, sata n otak2. All were... just alright.. not fantastic. There were a number of stalls and we are just not good at judging which one has the best sata, keropok lekor n otak2. Maybe we were too full already from the lunch we had at that kopitiam.
HIGHLIGHT OF THE WHOLE TRIP.. BASICALLY WHAT THE TRIP IS ALL ABOUT...
Dipping in the pool is not complete without a video. Here's one OH trying to show Afya to blow bubbles..
like i always say... it good.. it's all good
